About SCADA Training in Coimbatore
SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. It is a type of industrial control system that is used to monitor and control facilities and infrastructure in industries.
These systems encompass the transfer of data between a SCADA central host computer and a number of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and the central host and the operator terminals. A SCADA system gathers information and transfers the information back to a central site, then alerts the home station.
SCADA is a software which is used to control the hardwares which could be PLCs, PIDs, Drives, Servos…etc, called as RTUs and this is also a communication network through which acquiring data from RTUs and writing the values into the computer system takes place. (i.e) it is controlling and acquiring, the combination of both. In other point of view, this is more like HMI – Human Machine Interface.
SCADA systems consist of:
- Control center: It is a computer having SCADA software.
- Communication network (Ethernet HUB): Connects various PLCs to control center and has IP address to connect various PLCs.
- Field Instruments: May be sensors, actuators (or) PLC with HMI
Thus PC has a SCADA software in it. This can interact with field instruments via PLC and communication network. PC also connected to various PLCs (Unit1, Unit2, Unit3.) based on HUB capacity. HMI which is a Human Machine Interface that is individually connected to the PLC. This independently controlling and monitoring the PLC. But if we want to read the control information from all the units, we need a SCADA system. So PC is connected to all the units by main HUB.
In the very beginning SCADA is used in the maintenance operations like supervisory system like lead & lag check up, etc which makes maintenance easier. Now it is regularly linked with a management systems, procurement system, Billing system, Operations and Management systems. Through out the part of project, SCADA system becomes major part of sustainable projects.
